Phonm Pehn

We were all very sad to leave Siem reap. We'd had a fabulous four days exploring the Angkor temples and visiting the Sunrise children's orphanage. When Nikii and I went back to the orphanage on Saturday, we got a chance to spend some time with the older children. We had a great time playing simple games and singing with them. We couldn't believe how excited children as old as 11 were to sing simple songs with us. And they taught us both a song or two to take back to school in Hong Kong. They were so sweet and niave, can you imagine the response we'd get if we started singing "head, shoulders, knees and toes" to a bunch of 11-year-olds in England!!

We arrived in the capital city Phonm Pehn yesterday afternoon. We are staying at a lovely little hostel on the lake. The hostel has a great bar on wooden stilts on the lake with lots of hammocks and comfy chairs for us to chill on, great for hangovers!! The backpacker area were we are staying is made up of cute, scruffy little streets lined with lots of small bars covered in fairy lights. We had a walk around the town and down to the river yesterday afternoon before stopping off at 'Lazy Gecko cafe' for a delicious Sunday roast! We thought we'd treat ourselves here as all profits go to helping rehouse and educate street children...getting fat for a good cause! Plus they have a great Happy Hour and the manager is really lovely.

Last night we went out to a few of the bars in this area. We went to a bar were all the lads were playing Nintendo wii on the big screen. They asked us to join in with their bowling tornament, so we thought we'd have a go despite neither of us playing on the wii before. I was very pleased to win the tornament! Joel lost so had to buy Sambucca shots for everyone. I went into the 'Grand Finale' and came second which i was very impressed with considering all the boys spend hours a day playing on the stupid thing. So we got to finish the Sambucca bottle off. I'm thinking of making some extra money playing on the Wii for bets!

We woke up this moring to a massive thunderstorm, it was nice to just sit in the bar on the lake watching it whilst we had breakfast. After a late night and lots of Sambucca we weren't in much of a state to do anything so we spent the day chilling in the hammocks, playing pool and watching a dvd.

Hopefully we'll be a bit more productive tomorrow! x
